Overview interest facts - Helsinki Comics Festival 2023
The Finnish Comics Association has been organizing comic festivals in Helsinki since 1979. In the early years, the festival was held in the Old Student House, then around the city, and now in Suvilahti. From the very beginning, the structure of the festival remained similar, within the framework of different themes. The Helsinki Comics Festival offers public interviews, panel discussions, speeches, workshops and retail outlets for guest publishers, both large publishers and small magazine authors.

Will Eisner, Willem, Moebius, Marjan Satrapi, Morris, Joakim Pirinen, Neil Gaiman, Liz Maire, Keith Charlesworth, Lilly Carre, Brian and Mary Talbot and others have attended festivals over the years, as well as Paul Gravett, among domestic authors. For 40 years, the number of visitors has grown from about a thousand to 11-20 thousand per year.
