Asia Pacific’s leading dental exhibition and conference—IDEM, a biennial trade fair and convention is returning with its 12th edition this year after the in-person hiatus brought about by the pandemic. Themed “Building Resilience in Dentistry”, the physical event will take place from 7 – 9 October at Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands. In addition to exhibition and conferences, there will also be interactive workshops and a Fullday SDA Masterclass conducted by renowned speakers for delegate registrants to have a hands-on experience in honing their techniques and applying readily applicable clinical practices.
Full-day SDA Masterclass
Lecture conducted by Maurizio Tonetti, Chair Professor of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Director of the Shanghai Preimplant Innovation Center, and Executive Director of European Research Group on Periodontology network of clinical research excellence, on the topic: Implants in Stage III and IV Periodontitis Patients: Benefits and Risks. Dr Tonetti will present key concepts for attendees to understand the importance of appropriate periodontal therapy before implant placements, benefits, and risks of biological complications in Stage III and IV periodontitis patients. He will also share on specific approaches to decrease the risk of peri-implantitis in these high-risk subjects.
Aside from the Full-day SDA Masterclass, delegate registrants can also enrol for experiential workshops such as:
• Workshop A: Composite Restorations – Updates and Concepts for Aesthetic Rehabilitation by Dr Christopher Ho, 7 October 2022, from 9am – 12pm Dr Ho will share step-by-step procedures allowing participants to master direct resin restoration by giving practical hands-on experience. They will learn how to perform predictable adhesive procedures, understand the selection of shade for different materials, utilise different opacities of composite resin to sculpt a multi-layered restoration replicating natural aesthetics, and visualise the anatomical form and morphology of teeth. Additionally, participants can also expect to learn simplified and predictable techniques in direct placement, optimal posterior contacts with correct contours, and yield the knowledge to finish and polish composite resin to reveal a lustre-like finish for patients.
• Workshop B: Bracket Placement, TADs Insertion, and Deprogrammer Placement Hands-on Session. by Dr Bader Borgan on 7 October 2022, from 2pm – 5pm. In this super impactful hands-on session, participating doctors will get to practice bracket placement protocols under the supervision of Dr Borgan. Doctors will also be able to watch a demo for TADs insertion and Deprogrammer placement on the anterior and posterior teeth, learn about the tools required to create a great smile for patients. • Workshop C: How Do I Get the Most out of My CBCT Unit? by Dr Lim Li Zhen on 8 October 2022, from 9am – 12pm While 3D imaging technology—CBCT machines are becoming increasingly common in clinical practice, the benefits of it will not be fully maximised if users are not familiar with its settings or in interpreting the CBCT volumes that acquire. Participants in this course will receive pertinent clinical tips for acquisition and viewing, a review of CBCT anatomy and interpretation. There is also an opportunity to learn how to use the OnDemand3D CBCT viewing software, including nerve tracing.
• Workshop D: Leveraging on CBCT in Endodontics: How it Makes Endodontics Predictable and Fun! by Dr Johnathan Wee on 8 October 2022, from 2pm – 5pm Dentists often find canal anatomy is not completely obvious even with standard radiographs, and the diagnosis can be confusing when clinical and radiographic evidence do not sync or match. The use of Cone Bean CT or CBCT in endodontics have been considerably less widespread than in prosthodontic and surgical planning. CBCT is capable of being a serious force multiplier in endodontic diagnosis, planning, treatment, and evaluation. Dr Johnathan will present the prevailing evidence and tips on how to leverage on CBCT equipment and capabilities to make endodontic outcomes even more predictable for doctors in this workshop.
Delegate registrants will be able to attend all on-site activities. However, workshop tickets for each session are sold separately, and can only be purchased in conjunction with a Scientific Conference Pass. Registration is ongoing, Pre-show rates will be available at a discounted price before 2 October 2022. Register for IDEM, visit event page
